Gormenghast (2022)

Winter Production - Gormenghast Auditions

1st July 2022, 1:16 PM

Auditions for our Winter production: Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake, adapted by John Constable. Directed by Sarah Carter.

"In a world bound by iron laws and dead rituals, two young men are struggling to make their way: Steerpike, the renegade kitchen-boy who seduces and murders his way up the social ladder, and Titus Groan, heir to Gormenghast, who comes to threaten its very existence."

Performances will be on Tuesday 15th - Thursday 17th November at Newhampton Arts Centre. I will be holding some play readings at Bradmore Arms on Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th July followed by a formal audition on Monday 11th July. There will be some development of the physical theatre and fight scenes for those who are available prior to rehearsals starting in earnest on Wednesday 17th August. Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at Bradmore Arms. There are twelve roles in the cast and they will all be auditioned both age and gender blind - so anybody can audition for any role!

I have prepared an audition pack with all the information you could possibly need surrounding the production, rehearsals and audition process. It is available for anybody to view on Google Drive here: Audition Pack There's a lot of information here! Please feel free to read as much or as little as you wish, but a deeper understanding of the story and characters will make it easier to decide in which roles you're interested and deliver a stronger audition.

This audition pack includes an audition form that needs to be completed (either digitally or as a print out) to register your interest in taking part in the production - whether on stage or backstage. Please get these forms back to me by Sunday 10th July to aid me with the audition process.
